*The word Christmas is Old English, a contraction of Christ’s Mass.

*The first president to decorate the white house Christmas tree in the United States was Franklin Pierce, 1853 to 1857.


 *Electric lights for trees were first used in 1895.

 *The first Christmas cards were  invented in 1843, the Victorian Era.

 *The Montgomery Ward company, the Chicago-based retail operator, had purchased and distributed children’s coloring books as Christmas gifts for their customers for several years. In 1939, Montgomery Ward used one of their own employees to create a book for them, thus saving money. Robert L. May, a 34-year old copywriter, wrote the story of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer in 1939, and 2.4 million copies were handed out that year.
