Next year, the design on the US penny will change for the first time in 50 years. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, the US Mint will replace the Lincoln Memorial on the back to four different scenes from Lincoln’s life. The first pennies will be released on February 12th, 2009 (Licoln’s actual birthday) and feature the log cabin where he was born in Kentucky. The other designs will be introduced in three-month intervals

Dang, this is going to make conversations difficult.

Bob: “A penny for your thoughts”

    Jo: “Which one?”

Bob: “Do you mean ‘which penny,’ or ‘which thought?'”

    Jo: “There’s more than one?”

    Bob: “Yeah, there are 4.”

Jo: “4 pennies, or 4 thoughts?”

Bob: “You tell me; they’re your thoughts.”

Jo: “This is complicated. How about five thoughts for a nickel?”

In Canada there’s only 1 penny, and each bill has it’s own unique colour. It’s much less confusing. I doubt this will change, because Her Majesty, the Queen never lived in a log cabin, and probably never sat on a log.

I think that the new pennys should have pictures of our church and everyone in it……. or maybe they should have something on it like a BIG TALL hat….. yeah!!!!!!!

I think that the US should be more like Canada. Just keep the same stinkin’ thing all the time, but make the designs super cool and interesting like in Canada.
