It’s not easy frolfing in 96o weather when the humidity is at least 48%… it’s not easy, but it is fun.  Winning is fun- even though I did not (thanks, Quentin; thanks, Cody).  In sports, heck! in life, it’s pretty easy to get caught up in wanting to win.  The Bible tells us “I press on toward the goal to win the prize which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14.  I am  supposed to be trying to win in life- me, myself, I! *yay*

Except… “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3  *dang* This isn’t what I wanted to hear if I am trying to win in life.

But wait… “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27 *yay*  When we become Christians we are no longer just an I, but we are part of a body, a team.  We have help and support out there.  We have a Coach! There are other players on our team (each one of you is a part of it) and they are there looking out for me (each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others) and I should be looking out for them (each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others) and if we are all pressing on toward the same goal (the goal to win the prize which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus) then maybe I do win!

But it’s a different kind of win then the world thinks of.  The world wants us to win at the expense of others.  The world says if you win then others must lose.  This is the game the world plays.  Thankfully, here on team Christian, God has called us to play a different kind of game with a different kind of prize.

“He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentence.” 2 Peter 3:9.  As Christians, our team does not have a limited number of players.  In fact, God wants everyone to end up on our team.  He doesn’t want anyone to lose, to miss out on that prize of eternal life with Jesus in heaven. And how are others going to learn of this prize?  YOU have to tell them about the love of Jesus.  I win, you win, we win when we tell others about Christ.
